For those of you who wish to organize your holidays by yourselves there is access to the island by plane or by boat. There are daily flights to Heraklion from Athens (45 minutes) and other cities of Greece.

GB airways works for British Airways and from the 2nd of May 2006 starts scheduled flights from Manchester to Heraklion twice a week (Tuesday and Friday). From London (Gatwick airport) there are daily flights to Heraklion from Monday to Friday during the spring, summer and autumn season www.gbairways.com. You can also find flights from London Heathrow and Luton with Aegean Air or Easy jet. Olympic Air and Aegean Air offer flights from other European cities of Germany, Spain, Belgium, Italy etc.
