Crete has a great natural beauty. You will be impressed by the mountains, caves (Ideon Andron Cave and Dikteon Andron Cave, the most important ancient sacred caves in Crete), gorges (few of them are really famous, like Samaria gorge) and the secluded unexplored beaches and flora and fauna.
Apart from the natural beauty, Crete has a great history and very important archaeological sites to visit. At the city of Heraklion you will find the Knossos Palace and the Archaeological Museum with most of the found antiquities coming from one of the most ancient civilizations, the Minoan. You will also find the city walls and the Koules fortress, inherited from the Venetian conquerors but also beautiful churches.
